There are many differences between how Americans observer
holidays and special events and how people from other countries observe holidays and special events, but in my case it’s
very similar the way as we observe holidays and special events because in that
aspect Colombia’s culture is very similar to United States’
In Colombia when is somebody’s birthday, people celebrate
with family and some friends and have a cake with candles, sometimes you can
drink alcohol but it depends on the person. Very often family and friends bring
gifts to the party for the person who has the birthday party.
Also when you propose to get married to a girl, you usually
have to give an expensive ring to your future wife, and then, the day that you
get married you must give her a gold ring during the weeding ceremony, and she
will give you a gold ring too in order than both persons use them for the rest
of their lives.
In brief, I think my culture and Americans' culture is very similar, because we observe special dates in the same way. It is nice!!
